The United States Embassy in Pakistan has announced a temporary suspension of all visa appointments in Islamabad from March 9 to March 13, 2026. The embassy confirmed that while visa services are paused, routine and emergency services for U.S. citizens will continue as normal.
Applicants affected by the cancellations will be notified via email with instructions to reschedule their appointments. The embassy emphasized that it is closely monitoring the situation and urged all visa applicants to regularly check their email inboxes and the official embassy website for updates.
Temporary Suspension in Other Cities
In addition to Islamabad, consular services in Karachi and Lahore have also been temporarily suspended, affecting both routine and non-immigrant visa appointments.
The U.S. Embassy reassured the public that emergency services for American citizens, such as passport renewals, consular assistance, or urgent travel support, will continue without interruption.
Guidance for Applicants
Applicants are advised to:
- Monitor their emails for rescheduling instructions.
- Check the U.S. Embassy Pakistan website for updates and announcements.
- Avoid visiting the embassy or consulates in person unless instructed to do so for emergency services.
The embassy has not specified the reason for the suspension but stressed that normal visa operations are expected to resume after March 13, 2026.
