Vice President Kamala Harris continues to struggle to capture the same level of support among Black voters that Joe Biden achieved in his 2020 presidential run, according to a CNN poll released on 26 September 2024. The poll shows that Harris lags behind Biden’s margins in key demographic groups, particularly among Black voters — a crucial base for the Democratic Party.
However, the poll also suggests that Harris has significant room to grow, especially as she solidifies her policy platform. Her recent speeches on criminal justice reform, economic equity, and healthcare have resonated with younger Black voters, but older generations remain cautious about her leadership capabilities.
Political strategists are advising Harris to focus more on grassroots campaigns in states like Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, where the Black vote was instrumental in securing Biden’s victory in 2020. As Harris prepares for a potential 2028 run, strengthening her connection with Black voters will be key to her success.
