President Donald Trump declared that he feels “honored” to be targeting and killing members of Iran’s leadership, describing them on social media as “deranged scumbags.” His comments came Friday, amid ongoing U.S.-Israeli military operations in Iran, which have killed top figures including longtime supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
Posting shortly after midnight in Washington, Trump said:
“They’ve been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honor it is to do so!”
Trump also criticized media coverage that questioned the success of the campaign, insisting:
“You would incorrectly think that we are not winning. Iran’s military is being decimated, and their leaders have been wiped from the face of the earth.”
Trump Highlights U.S. Military Superiority
On social media, Trump emphasized America’s firepower, claiming the U.S. possesses “unparalleled firepower, unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time,” adding:
“Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today.”
The president’s remarks coincide with an escalation of military operations, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirming that the U.S. military would carry out the heaviest bombardment yet over Iran on Friday.
“In fact, today will be yet again, the highest volume of strikes that America has put over the skies of Iran and Tehran,” Hegseth said during a press briefing.

The U.S.-Israeli strikes, launched since February 28, 2026, have targeted Iranian military installations, nuclear facilities, and top leadership figures. Trump and his administration have repeatedly emphasized the goal of decimating Iran’s military capabilities and preventing the country from obtaining nuclear weapons.
