US Pushes Diplomacy in Lebanon as Israeli Strikes Continue”

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin emphasized the United States’ commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, where Israeli airstrikes against Hezbollah targets continue. During a recent press conference, Austin reaffirmed that the U.S. stands by Israel’s right to defend itself but stressed that further escalation would only deepen the crisis.

The Israeli strikes, which have intensified in recent weeks, are aimed at neutralizing Hezbollah’s military presence in southern Lebanon. Meanwhile, Austin urged for de-escalation and reiterated the U.S. position that a peaceful resolution is in everyone’s best interest, especially as Lebanon grapples with its own political instability and economic crisis. As tensions rise, the international community watches closely, with fears that the conflict could spill over into a wider regional war.
